I have had this guy for proly 6 months, he is skinny as a rail and you can see all his bones. The guy eats like a pig and always has, reef crack, flake food, and algae sheets on a daily basis. I am in fear he will die eventually from starvation, i wonder if he has a worm of some sort. He has been skinny from day one. Any thoughts on fatting this beautiful guy up......

add selcon and garlic to all food, these will help with his appetite, and also the selcon contains fatty acids that will help with his coloration and overall health. best of luck not a good sign when you can see their bones. sometimes that is too far gone.

Well the bad thing is he eats crazy amounts of food, if i put a good pinch of flake in he eats until it is gone. An algae sheet dont have a chance at all with this guy. I am going to google and see if i can find some kind of reason why he is so skinny

It probably does have an internal parasite, there are medicated foods for that sort of thing, but in my experience the fish is probably a goner.
sorry. |

Not what i wanted to hear Carla, but i was kinda thinkin the same thing. What is crazy is he is the happiest fella in the tank. Well only time will tell, i will continue to feed him as much as possible and hope for the best.

My Naso was starting to get that way also. a friend and long time reefer told me to start using fresh spinach leaves instead of dried seaweed. We put 8 or so leaves on a clip every morning and he is now very fat. Its also cheaper and healthier than nori.

If you can find Spectrum New Life Ther+A, I've had people absolutely swear by it as a means of eliminating internal parasites.
Fortunately, my fish died of ich before any internal parasites could finish them off (!@#$); but when I did the research on it, it gets great reviews. I fed my cichlids New Life cichild formula for years and I trust their quality. |
