    DIY Acrylic Frag Tank - 49.87 Gallons

    So after much consideration and lots of irritation at my 55 gallon frag tank I decided to make my own frag tank out of acrylic.
    The dimensions will be 60l*16w*12h

    I placed my order earlier in the week for all of my Acrylic and picked it up today at lunch.

    Here are the pieces I had cut they are all made from 1/4" Cell Cast Acrylic:

    Bottom = 60 " x 16"
    Front = 60 " x 11 3/4"
    Back = 60 " x 11 3/4"
    Side = 11 3/4 " x 15 1/2"
    Side = 11 3/4 " x 15 1/2"
    Bracing = 60 “ x 2”
    Bracing = 60 “ x 2”
    Bracing = 12” x 2”
    Bracing = 12” x 2”
    Bracing = 16” x 2”
    Bracing = 16” x 2”

    $114.90 for the Acrylic cut as listed above from Laird Plastics.
    $27.25 for the pint of Weld On #4, 1.5 oz tube Weld On #16 and the 2oz Needle Bottle from Regal Plastics including a $7.50 new account activation fee.

    If my math is right the build is costing me $142.15

    Pictures of the build will be posted later this weekend, right now I'm planning on drilling two 1.5" holes for bulkheads at the back of the tank and using 2 Inky Overflows...but I have a lot of left over Acrylic from the sheet I bought so we might try and make our own overflows...

    Anyways thats it for now, Ill post some pictures of the raw Acrylic later on this evening when I get home...
